Indian Women Portrait

Manjhi

Manjhi, loosely translated into English, is a rower.

In folklore, (s)he is a custodian of practical wisdom and local history.

In life, she can be the connection between her people and ‘the other side.’ One who expertly navigates uncertain waters to help others reach their destination.

Manjhi supports each woman in becoming the Manjhi of her own life and that of her community.
